Two Diamond Songs by David Cook

Blazin Performance at American Idol

It was Neil Diamond week at American Idol and the remaining Top 5 contestant sung two of Neil Diamond's song.

Jason Castro delivered another weak performance this week, although much better this week compared to last week. Both of his songs got negative remarks from the judges and he's in danger of being eliminated.

David Archuleta second song was far better than his first. His first song was called by Simon as amateurish.

A more confident Brooke White performs kinda well last night. Although I liked both of her song, I think Simon was being cruel to Brooke when he said that her first song was a nightmare.

Syesha Mercado still sizzles with her performance, although her performance was only Ok for me.

Now David Cook is the one that stood out at both songs, he can do wonders at the songs he chooses. Just like with his two songs All I Really Want is You and I'm Alive, the songs feels modern and new.

I definitely think that he is the next American Idol.

Can't wait for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

Midway is trying to copy the success of Capcom with its anticipated release of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

Marvel vs. Capcom 1 and 2 was such a big hit, that even after ten years it is still a great playable game. Spiderman, Captain American and Wolverine were just some of the superheroes from Marvel. The characters of Street Fighter lead the pack from Capcom.

This time, it will be the characters from the Mortal Kombat against the superheroes from DC universe.

Although I may say that DC Universe is more superior compared from the characters of Mortal Kombat World, they’re gonna give them a run for their money.

Lagging behind from Tekken and Soul Calibur popularity. Midway just came out with a bright idea of pitting its characters against the mighty characters of DC Universe.

I just can’t wait for its release, and I am quite excited to know the storyline and the revelations toward the game. I just think that Superman will be pitted to this monster with six hands. Or probably a Darkseid and this six hands monster will probably merge to create a super monster.

Now that leaves Namco pitting their characters to less popular comic book superheroes. Or probably Namco will just try to improve their fighting games.

How about Tekken vs. Street Fighter or How about a Royal Rumble between Tekken, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, and King of Fighters characters. Now that would be one heck of a fighting game.

HAROLD AND KUMAR ESCAPES GUANTANAMO BAY

DECEPTION TRAILER

Before the Summer Movies

Before the Summer Movie officially starts next week, there are two films that seem to have a shot at the top of the box office.

Deception. It tells about an accounting consultant, while passing from one job to another, meets a charismatic, womanizing lawyer who personifies everything the numbers cruncher wishes he could be. The accountant delves into an erotic world of underground sex clubs. It stars Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor with Michelle Williams, Natasha Henstridge and Maggie Q. Released by 20th Century Fox.

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay. The tow goofy are back. This time the duo decides to pursue Harold’s dream girl in Amsterdam. However an overzealous passenger mistakes Kumar for a terrorist, and the plane is diverted as the duo gets stuck in a case of mistaken identity. John Cho and Kal Pen reprise their role. Released by Warner Bros. Pictures.

You’re choice before the big movies came out.

America got it wrong once again

America had done it again; they committed the mistake twice this season. First it was the ouster of Michael Johns and now it was Carly Smithson’s turn to leave the show American Idol.

Carly Smithson is the best performer last night with her rendition of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Brooke White was the one who was supposed to leave the show; Americans just got it all wrong once again. Her performance was so weak and her voice was trembling when she was performing. Besides she committed the biggest blunder ever in American Idol. Forgetting the lyrics and starting over again is forgettable.

Carly was robbed of her place; she should still be staying in the show.

I was also surprised that Brooke White was not even in the bottom two; instead Carly shares the spot with Syesha Mercado. Syesha Mercado also had a big night last night.

Maybe next week, Brooke White will leave the show or yet again another shocker will happen in the show.

Carly Smithson's version of Jesus Christ Superstar

Carly Smithson's Big Night

Brooke White committed the most outrageous blunder in the American Idol. She forgot the lyrics that she had to start from the beginning. Andrew Lloyd Webber was all praised about Brooke, but lo and behold Brooke just stopped and said sorry. Must have been mental block or maybe the spotlight is just too bright for her, after her song, her face was all gloomy and her eyes were teary. I just think that she will be out this week.

Syesha Mercado was so hot and sexy during her presentation. Randy was right saying that it was her most brilliant performance. Jason Castro was kinda nervous while performing, the song just didn’t fit in his category. If Brooke just didn’t get into trouble I would have vote him out.

David Archuleta and David Cook continues to sizzle with their awesome show of brilliance during their performance.

But the night belongs to Carly Smithson who simply just brings down the house with her rockin powerful performance to date with her very own rendition of Jesus Christ Superstar. Her performance simply suits her very strong personality. Andrew Lloyd Webber just got the right idea of changing her song from All I ask of you to Jesus Christ Superstar. Good thing Carly listened to Mr. Andrew Lloyd Webber and her performance bolster her chances of making it to the top three.

Transformers very first episode

Wild Wild West

Now let’s head to the Wild Wild Western Conference, where even if you have a strong winning percentage, it does not guarantee you to claim a playoff spot, just liked what happened to the Golden State Warriors. They were raring to duplicate if not surpass what they achieve last year, but they fell short this year.

LA Lakers vs Denver. It was quite a surprise that Pau Gasol would blend easily with his new team and got the Triangle Offense effortlessly. Maybe this time, he’ll surpass the first round jinx, of course with the help of MVP contender Kobe Bryant. Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson should step up big this time in order to survive the onslaught of the mighty Lakers, otherwise their hard earned entry will go to none. Lakers in five games.

Utah vs. Houston. Tracy McGrady ,gets another chance to redeem himself facing Carlos Boozer and the rest of the Utah Jazz, a superstar with no first round success for his entire career. Without Yao Ming and Rafer Alston, the rest of the Rockets should go a notch higher in order not to waste their 22-0 winning game streak. Maybe Luis Scola should prove himself and supports T-Mac to avoid humiliation. This series is so tough, but I’m putting my money on Jazz in seven games. Without Rafer Alston, Deron Williams will easily dismantle Houston’s offense.

New Orleans vs. Dallas. New Orleans is probably the surprise team of the year, winning their first Division title and gaining Home court advantage in the playoff opener. This is also redemption time once again for the Dallas Mavericks, who seems to have no luck the past two years. Chris Paul will be having a hard time pitting his wares against the two Jason of Dallas, Terry and Kidd. The experience of Jason Kidd will probably guide the Mavericks past the Hornets. Experience will prevail over young blood in this series. It is not yet the time of Chris Paul yet. I’m pretty sure Dirk Nowitzki will reassert himselfand vanish the stigma of the last two years of the Mavs.

San Antonio vs. Phoenix. Big Diesel against the Gentle Giant. Shaq has always been known to be the a Champion, a Fighter. That’s the kind of spirit he’s bringing to the Phoenix Suns who just couldn’t reach the Finals. This one will be a long and tough series. It will be physical and always a close game, so whoever looses focus it’s bye bye for them. The Spurs will have a hard time defending their crown and they may just exit early. My choice is Phoenix in seven games. San Antonio is just so undermanned at this time, I don’t think they can match up with Phoenix firepower offensively.

It's Playoff time

It is playoff time, and here is my prediction as to who will win in their own series match up. First let’s head to what others may say the Weak East.

Boston vs. Atlanta. It is clear that the Celtics will simply just walk in this series. I don’t think that the Hawks can match up to the Big Three. I think Boston will sweep the series. Although having the league best record does not guarantee an easy win in the playoff. Just like what happened to the Mavericks last year. But I doubt that Atlanta have the talent as same as those Warriors who pulled the Mavericks out of contention last year.

Cleveland vs. Washington. Its their third straight year to meet in the playoff and Cleveland always prevailed in the series. This year they are 2-2 with each other, unless the Wizards find a way to stop King James from wreaking havoc, I think that the Cavaliers will take the series in six games.

Orlando vs. Toronto. Two promising young big men slug it out in this series. Dwight Howard of the Magic and Chris Bosh of the Raptors try to out muscle each other. I think that the Black Superman will prevail over Bosh Raptors, considering that Howard had just bulked up his body. Plus he has a lot of support from shooters Rashard Lewis and Hedo Torkoglu, who I think will win this year’s Most Improved Player. Orlando Magic will win it six games.

Detroit vs. Philadelphia. It’s a surprised to almost everyone when the 76ers made it to the palyoff this year. They were regarded as the Dark Horse and they have just proven that they can move on even without Allen Iverson but they are face with the task of beating the Detroit Piston, the most consistent and coherent in the Eastern Conference for the last five years. Loaded with four super starters with Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Rasheed Wallace. Just a defensive stop on Andre Miller and Andre Iguodala and the 76ers are in deep trouble. Detroit in five games.

ALWAYS BE MY BABY by David Cook

American Idol Most Brilliant Performance to date

The Boys stood out today in these week’s American Idol, where the show is all about Mariah Carey’s songs.

David Archuleta started the show with a strong rendition of Miracle, a duet by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. The judges loved him so much that Simon Cowell said that David Archuleta is the one to beat tonight.

Carly Smithson, who seems to be getting beautiful and beautiful every week, followed up with Without You. Followed by Sasyha Mercado with an unpopular song by Mariah Carey.

Brooke White and Kristy Lee Cook’s performance are so damn poor, that I even think that Kristy Lee Cook is about to leave the show. This week might just be it.

The Most Brilliant Performance to date according to Randy Jackson was by no other than Mr. It, David Cook, and the complete package according to Paula Abdul. She even said that his rendition of Always be my baby, could be a movie soundtrack. Randy also said that he could start making a hit record now. Simon also applauded David Cook’s performance. David Cook was all tears after the judges’ raves about him.

Jason Castro ended the show with a cool song, more of a beach song according to Randy Jackson. But it was also a great cover for Mariah’s songs.

BEOWULF ON DVD

I had the glorious task of watching Beowulf on DVD today. It was the director’s cut and I was looking for new scenes, but if they existed - they escaped my notice. I am guessing some of the battle scenes were a bit more violent, and a few shots simply escaped my eye. None the less, it was great to see the film again and although I preferred it with 3-D glasses; the picture quality was incredible and the film was still very watchable a second time around.

The special features on the DVD included: A Heroes Journey: The Making Of Beowulf, Beasts Of Burden: Designing The Creatures Of Beowulf, The Origins Of Beowulf, Creating The Ultimate Beowulf, The Art Of Beowulf, Deleted Scenes, Theatrical Trailer and Previews. I will not go into details on all the special features but will discuss a pair of my favorites. I am not a huge fan of special features; but this set kept me entertained (which is certainly a break from the norm). My love for the film fueled my interest, and I assume those that purchase this DVD will be in the same boat.

A Heroes Journey: The Making Of Beowulf

Love it or hate it, motion capture takes a ton of fucking work; and peculiar work it is. All the neon props and costumes made it look like everyone was acting in the world of Tron. To see the confused looks on the actors faces the day before shooting was hilarious, even when they first started acting in the suits - they seemed embarrassed. Only when the art director showed them concept pictures and “made them up” as costumed characters did their countenances start to change. They realized that they were skeletons for the characters that they could now see, take pride in and ownership of. Tom Hanks shows up in this segment for a quick pop in to say word to Zemeckis, and we also see them pitch Grendel to the man that was born to play him - Crispin Glover.

This segment was my favorite part of the special features. I thought this mini documentary was put together quite well.

The Art Of Beowulf

The art direction on this film was insanely thorough. The concept paintings are delightfully detailed and were very inspirational for the overall look of the film. They created additional miniatures, paintings, props and costumes as points of reference for the actors and animators. With so many talented artists on board, it made me wish they used costumed actors as opposed to motion capture. When possible I always prefer “man i suit” and I certainly think they had the talent here to make Beowulf motion capture, animated or live action. The artistic team behind this film was outstanding and it was a pleasure to see them build a world up from the script.

In Conclusion

This film is an over the top, testosterone-fueled adventure tale where demons are slain, legends are born and kings are made by way of the sword. I love this film and think it should be a staple in every home library. It reminds us that: forgotten mistakes can live on to haunt us later in life, it is essential to know your weaknesses, and when fighting a dragon always go for the tender underbelly.

AMERICAN IDOL SHOCKER

I was shocked at the results of the latest elimination that happened last night at the American Idol.
It was an emotional farewell for Australian Michael Johns, as the judges keep ontalking about moving on and he's that a great career ahead of him.
Fans keep booing when his name was mentioned as the one who got eliminated, First time in the bottom three and he's already eliminated.
I was expecting him to be in the Finals against David Cook, now I've learned that this is really a popularity contest and not just a talent show. You are not safe no matter how talented you are.
It was too early for him to be eliminated, there are two that I think that should've gone home instead. But that's life, America may have forgotten to vote him.

STREET KINGS TRAILER

Street Kings my only choice for this week

From the director of Training Day, David Ayer comes another cop drama/thriller/action movie, Street Kings.

Keanu Reeves plays as Tom Ludlow, a veteran LAPD Vice Detective, sets out on a quest to discover the killers of his former partner, Detective Terrance Washington. Captain Wander's, Ludlow's supervisor, duties include keeping him within the confines of the law--and out of the clutches of Internal Affairs Captain Biggs. Ludlow teams up with a young Robbery Homicide Detective to track Washington's killers through the diverse communities of Los Angeles. Their determination pays off when the two detectives track down Washington's murderers and confront them in an attempt to bring them to justice.

Keanu Reeves return to the action genre, although this time he is getting older and now watches over Chris Evan's character. Its just like Keanu Reeves film with Patrick Swayze entitled Point Break, but this time he plays the senior one. Keanu may have slow down a bit but just look at the trailer, the trailer just blows you away.

JASON CASTRO'S SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW

American Idol most Inspirational performance

In this week's American Idol whereas the theme is inspirational, there is one performance that I think stood out from among the rest of the Top 8.

It was Jason Castro singing Somewhere over the rainbow. It was the version done by Israel Kamakwiwo'ole that he sings instead of the version by Judy Garland. It was just so inspiring, the audience were caught in awe and was silent as if paying attention to every word that's coming out of Jason Castro's mouth.

Simon Cowell calls it fantastic. Other Idol finalist failed to impress the judge with David Cook, Michael John and Carly Smithson receiving the most blows from the judges.

Watch the video above to see what I am talking about.

Anne Hathaway for Wonder Woman

I read that they are making a live action movie For Justice League. I just wanna say to the producers that if they are ever going to make one, I just want three actresses to play the role of Wonder Woman namely Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel and Evangeline Lily of Lost.

Anne Hathaway may be young to reprise the role first made famous by Lynda Carter but I think she is just beautiful and voluptuous to play the Amazon Princess. Just Imagine yourself looking at Anne Hathaway wearing the Wonder Woman costume. She could make a solo movie out of it.

Jessica Biel seems to have the perfect body and built to play Wonder Woman, she is also tall that’s why I am also considering her for Wonder Woman. She has proven her athleticism in the movie with Blade Trinity.

Evangeline Lily also had the body and athleticism to grab the role for Wonder Woman, but with her freckles around, she could have a hard time convincing the producers. So that leaves to Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel, but Jessica has tattoo. So my top choice would be Anne Hathaway, with a flawless skin and a killer smile, she could be the next Wonder Woman.

How about you? Who is your pick to play Wonder Woman in the big screen?

Just read from the USA today, Daniel Craig second outing as James Bond. I'm blurting out the plot for you.

Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.

Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organization.

On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.

In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. Bye Bye Malubay

Fil-Am Ramiele Malubay was booted out of the American Idol. Ramiele failed to impress the viewers in this week competition. Country Song is just not her forte, so she had a hard time convincing televiewers to vote for her. Always the emotional one when it comes to elimination night, This time the light went out for her.

This gal is not used to country music, she is more of a power singer.Much like to the singing of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston. Heck, I think she has the best voice among the female contestant. It was just her weakness in country that brought her downfall.

Anyway, I am still proud of her achievement of being able to make it to the Top 12.
