ARCHERS SHOOT DOWN EAGLES, WILL FACE UE IN UAAP FINALS

Green and Blue. That’s the color that filled and separated the Big Dome today. With more than 23,000 plus jampacked crowd that filled the Araneta Coliseum up to the rafters. Students and Alumni of the green side of the De La Salle University emerged victorious over their arch rival Ateneo De Manila University.

With a 65-60 victory over the Blue Eagles, the Green Archers booked the second Finals seat against the unscathed University of the East Red Warriors. The Green Archers dominated the game after the half, but the Blue Eagles refused to give up and threatened up until the final seconds, after a triple of rookie Nonoy Baclao that pushed the Eagles within striking distance 62-60.

But veteran JV Casio calmly sank both his free throw to make it 64-60, Casio must have remembered their recent game against the UE Red Warriors where he fumbled in the free throw line where they could have prevented the Warriors from sweeping the elimination round.

Veterans Cholo Villanueva, TY Tang, Rico Maierhofer simply outplayed their Ateneo counterpart. These veterans outhustled, outrebounded most of the Ateneo players.

Defense was also the key in La Salle’s victory. Chris Tiu, the hero in Ateneo’s previous 65-64 win, was silenced in the last minute by the stifling defense of the Green Archers.

Looks like the UE Red Warriors will have its hands pull against the DLSU Green Archers. Having won the Fil-Oil and Nike summer tournament in the pre season, the Green Archers are touted as the team to beat in these years UAAP wars. These two evenly match up. DLSU beats UE in the semifinal of the Nike tournament. UE avenged it with a 20 point lopsided win in the first round and then barely escaping De La Salle with an overtime win.

Marcy Arellano, Elmer Espiritu, Mark Borboran, Kelvin Gregorio, James Martinez and the rest of the UE Red Warriors should not be overconfident and should be wary against the dangerous DLSU Green Archers.

It’s the second time that brothers who are coaching in UAAP will meet in the Finals. First was the Banal Brothers who had done it way back in 2003. Koy Banal with the FEU Tamaraws and Joel Banal with Ateneo Blue Eagles, with the former winning the crown. This year it will be the Pumaren Brothers with Franz with DLSU and Dindo with UE. Franz has the experienced, winning four in his first four years in the UAAP. Dindo should do his assignment very well if he wants to win one.

Let’s all wait and see if who wins, UE Red Warriors versus De La Salle Green Archers in the UAAP Season 70 Finals, your school, your choice. Nothing beats College Basketball…..

NOKIA N77

Of all the new cellphones out in the market today, this cellphone from Nokia has caught my attention.
The new Nokia N77 is the second DVB-H based mobile TV from Nokia after N92. Watch your favorite TV shows on the go. It’s also a great multimedia tool, It has built in stereo speakers, FM Radio, Digital Music Player and Real One player. A 2 mega pixel camera with flash, up to 18x Digital Zoom. That’s not all it’s Video Camcorder has 8x Digital Zoom.
You can surf the Internet with its powerful Web Browser. Connectivity is not a problem, with its Bluetooth 1.2, USB 2.0, EDGE and 3G capability.
It has a 20MB memory with expansion slot up to 2 GB, so you can store more photos, videos and music.
With it’s mobile TV features, FM Radio, Digital Music Player, Games, this is a powerful entertainment gadget. Although it’s camera is only 2 mega pixel, you can still take clear pictures and videos. This is entertainment on the go.
One bad thing though is you still have to shell out extra money to use its mobile TV capability as in the case of Smart in the Philippines.

transformers toys

On the heels of success of TRANSFORMERS the Movie, I recently bought my son two transformers robots.

CYBER STOMPIN OPTIMUS PRIME features real Movie voice, its eyes light up. With Laser blasting lights and sounds. It also has a launching robot fist.
Too bad, it does not transform or else it would have been a great toy.
It’s an action figure with a detailed parts and figure.
It’s a great gift for kids and those who are still a kid at heart.

CYBER STOMPIN BUMBLEBEE features are almost the same with CYBER STOMPIN OPTIMUS PRIME except that it plays the transformer song. It also has a launching robot fist and features robot punch..
Too bad though, the head does not look like Bumblebee in the film nor in the cartoons, You might think it’s another robot.
If your kids like Bumblebee, this toy can pass with its huge size.

This toys from Hasbro are worth collecting, although I have some hard time looking for them though, but it's worth it.

I just got a copy of Maroon 5 second album the other day. I had a good time listening to it, Frontman Adam Levine and Co., has done it again. Coming up with their second album entitled IT WONT BE SOON BEFORE LONG, the band has once again captured the pieces that makes a pop rock song which appeals universally.

From the first track Wont go home without you up to the last track Infatuation, all the songs are definitely worth listening to. The lyrics of their song has focused more on love and relationship, whether it’s failing, on the stage of recovery from heartbreak or just on a stage of development. The catchy tunes, funky beat and melody just makes you groove with the songs. Some are sentimental which makes you reminisce of your past love or loved one that you miss.

Outstanding tracks include Makes Me Wonder, Better that we break, Not falling apart, Nothing Last Forever and Wont go home without you.

If you liked their first album, you’ll also like this new album. Go and Buy it now.

Very first Blog.....FEU loss

Welcome !!!! To my very first journal about the movies that I’ll recommend, song that I’m listening to right now, games that I’m playing, some notable cool gadgets, my views about today’s basketball, Cool toys to be collected or as a gift.

I just witnesses the end of the season for the FEU Tamaraws in Season 70 of the UAAP. Failing to advance to the next level. It was a heartbreaking loss for the Tamaraws knowing that they have beaten the UST Tigers twice in the elimination. But needless to say, I am very proud of these young FEU Tamaraws. They'll be a force to reckon in the coming UAAP season. They are just a bunch of rookies and sophomores with only Marlon Adolfo and Benedict Fernandez the most veteran being part of the Arwind Santos led 2005 UAAP champions.

Mac Baracael, FEU's Main Man, shed to tears after the game. I mean, almost the guys cried, showing their emotions after the game. J.R. Cawaling, Reil Cervantes, Paul Sanga, Mark Barroca, Sandy Abarring, Aldrick Ramos, guards Knuttel, Alisbo and Cabagnot these are the guys to watch out in next year UAAP wars. They'll be mature by then. Remember 2002, Arwind Santos, Mark Isip, RJ Rizada and Dennis Miranda rookie year. They almost made it to the Final Four that year. But come 2003, they've swept the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the Finals. I believe that these squad will also do the same feat.

Although the UST Tigers beat the FEU Tamaraws, I dont think that they'll be able to pass thru Ateneo or De La Salle. And among these three teams, I dont think they all stand a chance against the UE Red Warriors of coach Dindo Pumaren, which I believe will be this year Champions. Sweeping the elimination is no big deal.

As for FEU Tamaraws, there is next year to take the Championship.
