NBA 2K8 greatest basketball game out there

If there is one basketball game out in the market today that truly stands out, it must be 2K Sports NBA 2K8. With Chris Paul on the cover, this game surely displays its greatness from the graphic to the sounds to the player moves.

2K Sports has consistently made their franchise fun to play and truly enjoyable. The player images richly resemble the players they were copied from. Even the moves and the skills of each player were outstanding.

Although NBA LIVE 08 have the FIBA Mode, NBA 2K8 has the draft class from 2000 to present, also the International All Stars. They even have the Jordan All Stars which consist of Chris Paul, Rip Hamilton, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony etc.

One flaw about this game, if they’re gonna put a Jordan All Star team, perhaps Michael Jordan should be included in lineup. Now that would be great, calling the attention of 2K sports please include Michael Jordan. And please include Michael Jordan in your Superstar All Stars Roster.

NBA 2K8 is a must have for basketball gamers out there. From a scale of 1 to 10 this is an 8.5

PBA OPENS 33RD SEASON

The PBA opens its 33rd season last Sunday. With some new rules and rookies to watch out for, PBA seems to be promising this season. What excite me about the opening season are the muses of each team. My favorite muse or I must say were Marianne Rivera of Talk N Text and Iwa Moto of Barangay Ginebra, their beauty and figure were jaw dropping and they are oozing with lots of sex appeal. Pokwang just ruined the opening with her not so funny antics and she just don’t fit as a muse for Coke or any other team.

Magnolia, formerly known as San Miguel Beer, blasted Air 21 on opening day. With a deep roster loaded with a lot of talent, expect Magnolia to reach the Finals. Already loaded with lot of stars in their line up, Magnolia added Larry Fonacier from Red Bull and rookie Jonas Villanueva from FEU. Back are Danny Seigle and Dondon Hontiveros after suiting up for the National team in a disappointing finish in FIBA Asia.

Earlier tonight, Purefoods won over Sta. Lucia Realtors. Talk N Text winning over Alaska Aces. With an injury free lineup, Purefoods has shown what they are capable of when they are healthy. Although I might add that Sta. Lucia Realtors are full of rookies and some acquisition from other teams most importantly Joseph Yeo. Talk N Text beat their last conference tormentor, Alaska Aces. Asi Taulava, Ren Ren Ritualo and Jimmy Alapag are back in the line up of the Phone Pals. High scoring of Willie Miller went into naught as the Aces dropped their opening game.

On Friday we’ll have the chance how will Joe De Vance, this year’s top pick, fair up as the Welcoat Dragons goes up against Coca Cola Tigers. But after that, bring in the whole gang, no I mean the entire neighborhood, it will be Barangay Ginebra’s first game. The Fast and the Furious duo of Barangay Ginebra have return. Expect Ginebra to walk freely against Red Bull. I think Red Bull is throwing in a lot of good players these year with the likes of Enrico Villanueva, Lordy Tugade and Larry Fonacier.

The PBA may have lost its glory days, but expect that to return soon as there are lot more local player drafted than Fil-Am these year. And if the Big J comes back as coach or commissioner, expect people to troop to the games once again.

ARCHERS SHOOT DOWN EAGLES, WILL FACE UE IN UAAP FINALS

Green and Blue. That’s the color that filled and separated the Big Dome today. With more than 23,000 plus jampacked crowd that filled the Araneta Coliseum up to the rafters. Students and Alumni of the green side of the De La Salle University emerged victorious over their arch rival Ateneo De Manila University.

With a 65-60 victory over the Blue Eagles, the Green Archers booked the second Finals seat against the unscathed University of the East Red Warriors. The Green Archers dominated the game after the half, but the Blue Eagles refused to give up and threatened up until the final seconds, after a triple of rookie Nonoy Baclao that pushed the Eagles within striking distance 62-60.

But veteran JV Casio calmly sank both his free throw to make it 64-60, Casio must have remembered their recent game against the UE Red Warriors where he fumbled in the free throw line where they could have prevented the Warriors from sweeping the elimination round.

Veterans Cholo Villanueva, TY Tang, Rico Maierhofer simply outplayed their Ateneo counterpart. These veterans outhustled, outrebounded most of the Ateneo players.

Defense was also the key in La Salle’s victory. Chris Tiu, the hero in Ateneo’s previous 65-64 win, was silenced in the last minute by the stifling defense of the Green Archers.

Looks like the UE Red Warriors will have its hands pull against the DLSU Green Archers. Having won the Fil-Oil and Nike summer tournament in the pre season, the Green Archers are touted as the team to beat in these years UAAP wars. These two evenly match up. DLSU beats UE in the semifinal of the Nike tournament. UE avenged it with a 20 point lopsided win in the first round and then barely escaping De La Salle with an overtime win.

Marcy Arellano, Elmer Espiritu, Mark Borboran, Kelvin Gregorio, James Martinez and the rest of the UE Red Warriors should not be overconfident and should be wary against the dangerous DLSU Green Archers.

It’s the second time that brothers who are coaching in UAAP will meet in the Finals. First was the Banal Brothers who had done it way back in 2003. Koy Banal with the FEU Tamaraws and Joel Banal with Ateneo Blue Eagles, with the former winning the crown. This year it will be the Pumaren Brothers with Franz with DLSU and Dindo with UE. Franz has the experienced, winning four in his first four years in the UAAP. Dindo should do his assignment very well if he wants to win one.

Let’s all wait and see if who wins, UE Red Warriors versus De La Salle Green Archers in the UAAP Season 70 Finals, your school, your choice. Nothing beats College Basketball…..
